Using a Multimeter in Mobile Repair

Learn what voltage, resistance, continuity and diode-mode checks can tell you during diagnosis.

01

Know what you are measuring

A multimeter does not identify a fault automatically. It gives evidence. Select a mode and reference point based on the circuit question you are trying to answer.

02

Build a safe sequence

Start with visual inspection and power-state awareness. Use continuity only where appropriate, measure voltage against a known ground, and compare suspicious readings with a schematic or known-good board.

  • Inspect first
  • Choose the correct mode
  • Confirm your reference point
  • Record the reading
  • Interpret it in circuit context
03

Practise under supervision

Incorrect probing can bridge components or damage a powered board. Hands-on instruction helps develop stable probe control and safe habits.

Workshop note

Repair procedures involve heat, electricity, fragile parts and customer data. Practise under qualified supervision and work only on devices you are authorized to service.
