Separate pairing from playback
Confirm whether the accessory is connected, then identify what is actually silent: music, calls or every sound. Record the app and accessory model. A connected indicator establishes an association; it does not by itself establish the selected playback destination.
Check the route during playback
Apple explains how to choose an audio destination while content is playing. Use a harmless sample and the controls appropriate to the phone. Compare output through the phone and accessory at sensible volume, with consent. Note whether changing the destination changes the result.
Avoid replacing a speaker from this test alone
If one app or one accessory fails, consult its support and compatibility information. A working phone speaker does not prove the accessory is healthy, and a silent accessory does not prove a radio fault. Keep pairing, routing and audible playback as separate entries in the diagnostic record.
The app is sending audio to another destination
If selecting the intended accessory restores the sample, record a routing result. That is useful troubleshooting, but it does not show that any speaker was physically repaired. Recheck the owner’s normal call and media use separately.
