Record the starting condition
Note cracked glass, frame damage and prior opening when relevant to the agreed job. Use the manufacturer’s instructions for the exact model. Do not assume a device retains its original sealing performance because it looked intact before service.
Use the supported assembly process
Where the service procedure requires seals or adhesive, identify the correct parts and preparation. Keep the work within qualified practice conditions. Improvised glue or an adhesive that merely fits the outline should not be treated as equivalent to the documented assembly.
Describe only what was verified
A new adhesive strip is not, on its own, evidence of a particular ingress rating. State the assembly work and any supported verification actually completed. Never ask a customer to demonstrate success by immersing the phone. Explain any limitation honestly at handover rather than making an unsupported waterproof guarantee.
New adhesive was fitted without a supported seal test
Describe the adhesive replacement accurately and state the unverified sealing performance. Do not turn the fitted part into a waterproof guarantee. A transparent handover can explain both the completed assembly work and the limits of the evidence.
Your practice record
- Prior opening and enclosure damage
- Correct documented parts
- Assembly steps followed
- Sealing claims limited to evidence
Repair procedures involve heat, electricity, fragile parts and customer data. Practise under qualified supervision and work only on devices you are authorized to service.
