Separate discovery and connection
Record whether Bluetooth is available in the system, whether the accessory appears and whether pairing finishes. An absent system control differs from a headset that appears but rejects a connection. Note the accessory’s power and supported discovery procedure.
Use a compatible comparison
Microsoft’s connection guidance distinguishes configuration, driver and device issues. Test a known-compatible accessory where permitted, and check whether the original accessory works with another supported host. Keep each pairing result labelled; changing hosts and accessories together hides the variable being investigated.
Preserve the owner’s setup
Do not remove every saved device or reinstall the system as a first response. Explain any proposed re-pairing and its effect on saved associations. If ordinary checks fail, collect device detection, exact messages and model information for support. Audio routing should be checked separately after a successful connection.
The accessory connects elsewhere
This is useful evidence about that accessory under one arrangement. Check compatibility and the laptop’s discovery stage before concluding that its radio is defective. A comparison narrows a hypothesis; it does not replace a complete diagnosis.
