Record the connection without copying secrets
Ask whether the active line uses a physical SIM, an eSIM or multiple lines. Record only the operational detail needed for the job. Activation information and account access belong with the owner; they should not appear in a classroom notebook or public photograph.
Avoid unnecessary profile changes
Apple’s cellular troubleshooting distinguishes line and carrier checks from device service. An eSIM profile should not be deleted merely to explore a fault. Physical SIM handling also requires the correct model procedure and a suitable, undamaged tray rather than force or makeshift adapters.
Plan the service handover
Before work that may affect activation, ask the owner to confirm the carrier’s supported transfer or recovery process. Document which line was checked and which could not be tested. Returning a device with Wi-Fi working does not establish that calls and mobile data on every configured line are restored.
One configured line works and another does not
Record the lines separately and have the owner confirm the affected account with the carrier. A successful call on the working line should not be used to mark every cellular function passed. Avoid deleting profiles to simplify the test.
Your practice record
- Physical SIM, eSIM or multiple lines
- Owner retains activation details
- No unapproved profile deletion
- Per-line handover checks agreed
