Describe the location error precisely
Distinguish a fixed wrong position, a wide uncertainty area and delayed movement on a map. Note whether the issue happens indoors, outdoors or only in one app. A screenshot should exclude home addresses and travel history unless the owner specifically permits that information to be used.
Compare supported conditions
Let the owner review the app’s location permission and relevant settings using the device maker’s guidance. Compare a stationary observation in a suitable open location with another mapping app, where available. Do not make a road test while handling a phone or ask the owner to expose sensitive routes.
Preserve uncertainty
A brief workshop comparison cannot reproduce every building, network or route. State the location context and what could not be tested. If the issue follows one app, begin with that developer’s support. A persistent cross-app failure deserves device-specific assessment before anyone recommends antenna or motherboard work.
One app reports a different position
If two mapping apps disagree while the phone remains stationary, preserve the app names, permissions and context. That difference justifies app-specific investigation. It does not yet identify a physical antenna fault or prove that either displayed position is accurate.
