Identify the failing stage
Write down whether the accessory appears in the phone’s device list, whether pairing completes and whether it reconnects later. These are separate stages. Record the accessory model and its instructions for entering pairing mode; an accessory already connected elsewhere may need attention first.
Compare the two ends
Google’s Android troubleshooting recommends checking the phone and accessory. Use a supported accessory with the phone, or the accessory with another compatible device, where permission and compatibility allow. Keep those results separate rather than concluding that either end is faulty from one failed pairing.
Avoid destructive shortcuts
Re-pairing may be reasonable under the manufacturer’s instructions, but explain that saved associations can be removed. Do not erase the phone or install unofficial Bluetooth packages for a simple pairing complaint. If ordinary checks fail, take the model details and exact stage of failure to qualified support.
The accessory is not discoverable
If the phone discovers another supported accessory but never lists the original headset, confirm the headset’s discovery instructions and other connections. That result narrows the investigation; it does not prove the headset has a particular internal fault.
Your practice record
- Accessory enters discovery mode
- Previously connected devices identified
- Comparison accessory and outcome
- Pairing error recorded exactly
