Use the right call context
Ask whether the screen remains active during a normal handset call or while speakerphone and accessories are in use. Those contexts need separate observations. Record whether accidental touches occur and whether the complaint began after a screen, case or protector change.
Compare without forcing the hardware
Use the manufacturer’s guidance for the actual model and the owner’s permission for a short test call. Compare with removable accessories only where appropriate. Do not assume every device places its sensing components in the same visible location or uses identical behaviour.
Document before suggesting parts
If the supported comparison reproduces the issue, record the screen state and call mode clearly. A sensor-related symptom does not by itself establish a failed sensor; installation, software and other paths may need assessment. Avoid entering undocumented service menus or promising that a display replacement will fix the complaint.
The behaviour started after a protector change
That timing makes the accessory worth checking under the manufacturer’s guidance. It does not establish causation. Preserve the prior condition and comparison rather than removing internal parts because a sensor-related explanation sounds plausible.
Your practice record
- Handset or speakerphone mode
- Recent screen or protector work
- Accidental touch behaviour
- Repeatable supported comparison
Repair procedures involve heat, electricity, fragile parts and customer data. Practise under qualified supervision and work only on devices you are authorized to service.
